Home-Made Cheap Style Cup - A - Soup!



per mug/person


Mug of hot water

2 teaspoons of gravy powder (more or less to taste)

1 slice bread ( add butter/marg to your preference)

add your choice of the following flavourings;

½ teaspoon mint sauce or

pepper or

1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce or

1 teaspoon Ketchup or

sprinkle of mixed herbs

(you get the idea!)



 Put the kettle on ( as in plug it in, not wear it lol!)

Butter the slice of bread ( if you like buttered bread, if not then don’t!)

Once water boiled, pour out CAREFULLY a mug of hot water

Stir in the gravy powder

Add whichever added flavouring you prefer either from the list above or improvise


Cooking Time – Not much longer than boiling a kettle

Cost – approx 12p per person
